2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” KJV

Too often, we only pray for our nation around elections or on the National Day of Prayer. But prayer for our country and its leaders should be a daily commitment, not just a seasonal response to national events.

Throughout history, prayer has been a steadfast anchor for those seeking strength and wisdom in times of struggle. In life’s most difficult trials, people often turn to God for peace and comfort in ways they never have before. Prayer carries healing power, and in it, there is hope.

In recent years, our nation has faced some of its greatest challenges—divisions are deepening, and brokenness is becoming more evident. As Christians, we must rise and cry out to heaven on behalf of our country. If we don’t, who will?

President Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “There is a need we all have in these days and times for some help which comes from outside ourselves.”

The ongoing national and world events have shaken us all, leaving many asking, What can we do? Regardless of how or whether we have prayed before, no matter our political party or denomination, we are ALL being called to look beyond ourselves. Now is the time to set aside our differences, come together, and see one another as fellow Americans.

Dr. Billy Graham once said, “We are to pray in times of adversity, lest we become faithless and unbelieving. We are to pray in times of prosperity, lest we become boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, lest we become fearful and doubting. We are to pray in times of security, lest we become self-sufficient.”

Our nation is broken morally and spiritually. The only answer to this crisis is God. We have a sin problem; what was once right is now called wrong, and what was once wrong is now embraced as right. Without God's movement, nothing will change. Only He can heal the brokenness and transform hearts.

We know that God answers prayer. James 5:16 reminds us “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Now, more than ever, we must pray with urgency, standing in agreement with God’s Word so that He can move in our nation and heal our land.

I am asking you to make prayer a priority. There is power when we pray together and when we do so, God moves mightily.

How can we pray together?

By coming into agreement with His Word, praying the will of God and the plan of God together.  We release our faith for spiritual awakening, peace, wisdom, health, provision, and protection.

1 John 5:4 tells us, “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.”

We are not just agreeing together. We are also agreeing with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Himself. As believers, we must focus on the answers that come from God’s Word.  We pray the Word of God and agree with it, and it shall come to pass.

Here are some scriptures that we base our prayers on:

Matthew 18:18-20 - “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

John 15:7 - If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

Mark 11:24 - Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Isaiah 54:17- No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6- 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Prayers for Government and Leaders

1 Timothy 2:1-3 - Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Proverbs 2:21-22 I thank You, Lord, that the upright continue to live in the land, and the blameless continue to remain in it; but the wicked are cut off from the land, and the treacherous are uprooted from it.

Proverbs 2:2,7  I pray that President Trump and those who surround him, make their ears attentive to wisdom, and that they incline their hearts to understanding.  I believe they operate in sound wisdom stored up for them by the Lord.

Acts 12:24  I thank You, Father, that the Word of God continues to grow and to be multiplied here in the United States.

Psalm 32:8  I thank You, Father, that You will instruct President Trump and teach him in the way which he should go, and that You will counsel him with Your eye upon him.

Praying for a Spiritual Awakening

2 Chronicles 7:14 - if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Psalm 80:18-19 - Then we will not turn back from You Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!

2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Let’s be diligent to pray as a church and believe that God will move on the earth today.  James 5:16 - The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. AMP
