Jeremiah 17:7Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.

The other day, while standing in line at the store, I pulled a dollar bill from my wallet. My eyes fell on the words printed across the back: “In God we trust.” I paused for a moment and thought about that word, trust. It’s such a precious thing.

In relationships, people often say, “trust has to be earned.” And that’s true. Trust is built when someone speaks with honesty and follows through with action, when their words and their deeds align. That’s what makes them trustworthy.

Our relationship with God works much the same way. As a pastor, I often encourage people to keep their walk with God fresh and alive. At the center of that walk is trust. And we learn to trust Him by what He says and what He does.

From beginning to end, the Bible reveals who God is and what He has done. His Word is filled with His promises and His track record of faithfulness. Yet sometimes, when prayers seem unanswered, or when waiting stretches on longer than we expected, it can shake our trust. If we’re not careful, doubt can creep in and even turn into bitterness toward God.

But here’s the truth: even when we don’t understand, God is still working on our behalf. He sees what we cannot. He knows the whole picture, including the future we have yet to walk into. And His Word assures us that His plans are good.

So when the waiting is hard, or the answers aren’t clear, hold fast to this: You can trust Him. He has never failed, and He never will.

Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

It can be challenging to trust God when we are asking for His help and it doesn’t come in the way or at the time we think it should, but that’s where our trust in God really matters. You can choose to get angry at God and allow your mind to think negative thoughts, that He is not good, or you can go back to His Word and remind yourself of what He said about you and choose to trust Him.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

The Bible says that God is working things together for our good.  Notice that God has good things in store for you.  You must believe that God is working on your behalf to bring you into a good place in your future.  Even though the piece of your life in front of you might not look easy, God knows how to fit that into the big picture.

Sometimes, when we find ourselves in a difficult situation in life, it’s an opportunity for us to work on our character.  We get a chance to see what’s really in our hearts and make necessary adjustments.  Instead of becoming bitter at the circumstances, remind yourself that God has good things planned for your future.  Choose to trust in God, ask Him to help you see what’s ahead, and remember the situation you are in right now is only temporary.

Psalm 30:5 - ...Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Choose to trust God with your life and allow Him to guide you.  Keep your heart open to His plan and trust that He will bring you into a good place. Every time you look at a dollar bill, let it be a reminder of who you are trusting in.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you that I can trust in you.  Your Word says that you are for me and not against me.  You have good things in store for my life.  I choose to trust you even when I don’t understand why things happen.  I thank you for being who you say you are, and I am who you say I am.  It’s in you alone I trust, In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
