RESIST!
The other day, I was flipping through the TV channels. There was some political argument on, and someone held up a sign that said, “RESIST.” That is such a good reminder to us believers. We should live a “resist” lifestyle, be on guard daily, and resist the enemy. We do not fight against flesh and blood; our battle is spiritual.

We live in turbulent times, and it’s more important than ever to stay close to Jesus. It seems like the devil is working overtime against people because he knows the hour is late. Now is not the time to shrink back and be afraid; instead, you should be strong and stand your ground.

1 Corinthians 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV)

How many times have we heard certain scriptures, yet somehow, their meaning or application seems to escape us? We need to be doers of the word. Remember, we’re blessed not only in the hearing but also in the doing.

The Bible talks about being steadfast. Steadfast means being firm, fixed, steady, constant in behavior, not easily moved, and stationary.

This is how we are to be in our walk with God. We must know who we are spiritually and be steady and firmly fixed.

The world and its systems are not going the way of God. The Bible talks about how the entire earth lies in darkness. We will have to be strong and steadfast when it comes to God's things. The Bible says we must resist the devil, and he will flee from us.

Resist- To withstand, fend off, oppose actively, and fight against.

You can’t be passive about the enemy; your silence will be your destruction. Jesus tells us right up front who the devil is and what he wants to do.

John 10:10 - The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The enemy is coming to steal, kill, and destroy.  You must resist him, or he will succeed!
How do we resist? The enemy primarily attacks in the arena of your thought life. He will try to bring fear, anxiety, worry, doubt, ideas, and suggestions.

We need to recognize the devil's tactics. When you give your thoughts over to fear, worry, etc., you allow the enemy to bring trouble into your life.

2 Corinthians 10:5- casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

When the enemy comes to tell you lies, resist him, withstand, fend him off, and fight against him. Don’t receive anything from him; remind him that he is defeated, and greater is He in you than in the world. Replace the lies with truth from God’s word.

You are not subject to the enemy. The Bible says that when you resist him, he will flee. You will win every time you resist, but if you remain silent and passive, waiting for God to do something, you will live in defeat. God told you to resist the enemy, but God will not do what He told you to do.

We have victory over the devil in Christ. Stand firm in the truth of God’s word and resist the enemy!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for delivering me from the enemy's hand.  You have rescued me out of darkness and brought me into the light.  Please help me be aware and on guard against the enemy so that I can resist and overcome him. I thank you for the victory in my life today.  In Jesus's name. Amen!
